My initial visit to Iceland was to witness the Aurora Borielous. Iceland is one of the best place to view the Auroras between April, and September. I was not disappointed with the show that the skies performed.

If to don't sleep, in the morning hours, you will see the icebergs that settle on the beach of Jökulsárlón like ships dock along the shoreline before, disappearing as the day progresses. 

Jökulsárlón is a glacial lagoon, bordering Vatnajökull National Park in southeastern Iceland. Its  waters dotted with icebergs from the surrounding Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, part of larger Vatnajökull Glacier.

Enjoy spending mornings at the Jökulsárlón lagoon.  Photographing the scattered icebergs along the shore as the waves flow in and out creating patterns along the black lava sand.

Solheimajokull Glacier is located along the southern region, lying just off  Iceland’s famous Ring Road. Solheimajokull is one of Iceland’s most accessible glaciers. 

Vatnajökulsþjóðgarður is one of three national parks in Iceland.  It encompasses all of Vatnajökull glacier. Get suited up to walk the glacier

Visiting a natural ice cave is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, especially now that the glaciers are melting due to climate change. Their blue ice roofs make the scene mesmerizing and extremely photogenic, to say the least.

And while there's no official record, estimates say there may be as many as 10,000 waterfalls in Iceland. Astonishing! Foss is the Icelandic word for waterfall

Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland, with a drop of some 60 meters and a width of 25 meters. You can not only walk right up to it but you can also walk behind the falls.

The Icelandic horse or Icelandic, is a breed of horse developed in Iceland. Although the horses are smaller compared to other breeds, most registries for the Icelandic refer to it as a horse. Herd showing typical thick winter coat, in a variety of colors

Iceland is the breeding home for about 60 percent of the world's Atlantic puffins. Puffins can be seen in Iceland from early April until September each year. Puffins are sea-birds and use the waves for resting when not swimming.

For the best chances at photographing fields of lupines, visit Iceland during the summer months of June and July. During this period, they will be in bloom and visible almost everywhere throughout the country, particularly alongside roads, around lakes and near the coast.
