As the salmon leap up the falls, the bears compete with eachother for the best fishing spots.  Bears can catch and eat more than 30 salmon per day.

Orangutans are found in the tropical rain forests of only two islands in the world: Sumatra (in Indonesia) and Borneo (in Malaysia and Indonesia).

This African native is a large cat, built for speed. With it's long legs and light build, it is capable of running at 80 to 98 km/h. It's long  tail contributing to it's agility.

Lying within the natural habitat of a healthy population of polar bears, Churchill is one of the best places in the world to safely view polar bears.

Mgahinga National Park is located in the Virunga Ranges in the south western region of Uganda. The Virunga mountain range is shared by Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.

With 8 to 10 million puffins inhabiting the island, Iceland is home to more than 60% of the world's entire Atlantic puffin population.  It is definitely something Icelanders are proud of.

During low tides, mama brown bears and her cubs go out to feed on razor clams.  Bears sniff out where a clam is hiding and dig fast before it is buried deeper in the sand.

Yellowstone is the only place in the United States where bison have lived continuously since prehistoric times. The bison is the largest land mammal in North America. Males (bulls) weigh up to 2,000 pounds (900 kg), females (cows) weigh about 1,000 pounds (500 kg).

Whales breach ( or flipper-slap/tail-breach/etc) to help rid themselves of parasites. Whales, Humpback Whales especially, sometimes carry a variety of external (as well as internal) parasites that may cause itching and irritation to their sensitive skin.

The Icelandic horse holds a special place in the hearts of Icelanders. Their unique gait, resilience to harsh weather conditions, and friendly nature grant them a cherished position in Icelandic culture.

As parts of the Mississippi freezes, the eagles swarm to the lock and dam 14. The fish are trashed downstream at the 3ft drop by the dam. Temporarily stunned in the iceless waters, they are easy picking for the eagles  circling above.  

Photographing wildlife while you are in their natural environment, requires caution and patience.  I found myself as comfortable around them as they were with them being there when I captured this very touching moment. Pun intended 

You can't always capture images of animals in their natural habitat. But, with patience to can capture a moment. I captured this moment while patiently observing the chimpanzees. I found the one whose face you can see, caring for an elder.
