This is my favorite capture of bears at the falls.  Once I was home reviewing my images and came across this one, I knew that I could not top this.

Once a bear does catch a fish, they carry it of to eat in a space alone from others.

There are three methods bears use to catch a salmon. This is a diving methods.  I wanted to capture this method, but soon realized that I wanted it from eye level, not slightly above.

This bear below the falls, in what is called the Jacuzzi. After a salmon fails in their attempt the jump the falls, they are dazed and will float into these bears. 

I grabbed some waiters, got in the river to be eye level with the bears.  This mom and cub was about 100 feet away when I captured this image.  

 Diving for salmon yields good success for catching one. Now its time to go off and eat it

Once they find a place to eat,  bears prefer to eat the skin, brain, and eggs—the fattiest parts of a salmon—when fish are in abundance. 

 Getting wet is a fact of life for furry mammals, but it can be very dangerous to stay that way. Wet fur conducts heat, increasing the risk of hypothermia and the problem exists for animals of all sizes.

I was happy to capture this mom and cub that was on the river bank while I was in the river. Every moment is special and unique. 

This mom and her four cubs, were on the move in clear view when I was able to capture this image.
